Tanglewood

The Tanglewood exhibition was presented at the JamFactory Gallery 1 from Sept 30 to Nov 27, 2022 with the accompanying monograph Peter Walker: Tanglewood, published by Wakefield Press.

Tanglewood looks closely at trees and their surrounding ecology in the Australian bush, encouraging reflection on the nature of wood and its origins.

The works investigate synergies of geometry, structure and pattern found in the natural world where close observation of the seemingly chaotic tangle of the Australian bush reveals a composition of repetitious forms and angles.

Predominantly created from fallen eucalyptus branches, the forms utilize found elements, spliced together using techniques to blur the boundary between naturally formed occurrences and human-made structures.

Upwelling

The Upwelling series was installed at the Museum of Discovery, Adelaide for the duration of 2022.

As part of the Invisibility exhibition, Underground in the Gould Gallery explored the impacts of thermal heat flows in the earths crust.

These works reference the up-welling phenomena of the Great Australian Bight, where the high-pressure system summer winds draw creatures and nutrients up from the ocean depths.

Created from eucalyptus, banksia, and balsawood, the sculptures represent adaptations for survival.
